Spiritual Formation of Prayer

F.B. Meyer, the author of the great little book The Secret of Guidance, said, "The great tragedy of life is not unanswered prayer, but unoffered prayer."

Charles Spurgeon, the great preacher of the Victorian era, said of prayer in the church, "If the spirit of prayer is not with the people, the minister may preach like an angel but cannot expect success.

That church may have wealth, talent, labor, and many outreach efforts, but the Lord is not there.

Prayer is as sure evidence of God's presence as the rising thermometer is evidence of an increase in temperature.
